French polish is a shellac finish built by hand: thin coats, rubbed and brought up until the timber reads clearly and the grain keeps its depth. We treat it as a surface discipline: even film, careful edges, and a result that feels quiet in the room rather than glossy for its own sake.
Work spans furniture, bespoke joinery, and architectural timber, from period pieces that need sympathetic restoration to new panelling and staircases that must sit seamlessly beside existing work. Where shellac is not the right tool, we specify wax, oil, or adapted systems to suit the substrate and use.
